Berrico is located in the picturesque Gloucester Tops close to the Barrington Tops National Park which is listed as a World Heritage Area.
The nearest town is Gloucester a large country town in a picturesque river valley at the junction of the Avon, Gloucester and Barrington Rivers
It lies beneath a range of impressive monolithic hills called The Bucketts.
Berrico is located in the North Hunter Region and is 310 km north-east of Sydney.
This incredibly beautiful little corner of the world is where we are now fortunate to call our home away from home.

We hope you enjoy popping in on us city folk from time to time and hearing about our trials and tribulations as we find our feet on the farm.
Or loose them – might be more apt !!!
So far we have discovered the joys of ticks, leeches and horse flies as well as stumbling across more than one or two red bellies!
The farm house is lets just say rustic….. with one flushing loo between two families
and a bath tub out on the verandah.

We are off the grid – so its solar power, and a medium size watertank and dinners around the campfire.
We hope to keep life a bit simpler when we are up here so there is no T.V, no Xbox, no microwave, no internet, we don’t even have phone reception at this stage!
We each have lots of ideas and dreams of what Binalong might become.
We have decided to run cattle, though which actual breed is still in question.
We have quite a bit of bladey grass, bracken and thistles to contend with first though.
Early days….
The kids are keen to build a treehouse, and a giant flying fox.
we are keen to get a vegie garden planted and build a swimming hole,
As for me if we could just pop a beach at the bottom of the hill – Life would be perfect!

I’m Lisa – one of the four contributors to this blog- I will be giving you the arty, creative perspective of life at Binalong
Binalong from the view of a girl who grew up in
the outer suburbs of Melbourne and now lives near the beaches and Royal National Park in Sydney.
I’ve always been a bit of a fringe dweller, who loves to dream and create.
I have always lived near the beach, and not to far from the city but far enough
if you catch my drift….
I’m a free spirited soul who LOVES
camping, photography, painting and getting back to nature,
whenever she can
Over the coming weeks you will meet the other three Binalong bloggers
and I hope from time to time to add some posts from our young farmers of tomorrow!
I’m off to have a relax on the verandah with a vino and soak my feet in the tub
whilst I enjoy a beautifully green little patch of Australia
Binalong at Berrico!
Happy Australia Day Mate!!!
